Dohna is the second-oldest town in the Free State of Saxony. It is located in the district of Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge and is the seat of the Dohna-Müglitztal administrative community. The town of Dohna is about 15 km southeast of Dresden and south of Heidenau, at the entrance to the Müglitztal, serving as a gateway to the Eastern Ore Mountains.

Today, Dohna’s economy is characterized by small and medium-sized enterprises, local craftsmen and service providers, as well as agriculture and fruit and vegetable cultivation.

Dohna is accessible from Heidenau via the S 178. The A 17 passes immediately by Dohna. The Pirna junction is located right at the town’s entrance between the districts of Köttewitz and Krebs. Regional transportation is provided by bus connections to Heidenau, Pirna, and Altenberg, as well as by the Dresden city line to Borthen and Röhrsdorf, and additionally by the Müglitztalbahn from Heidenau to Altenberg.
