Our detached family house is built solidly (using Poroton blocks), with modern insulation and a clinker façade. We have always taken excellent care of the house and maintained it continuously. The last major maintenance work was the replacement of the gas heating system with a high-performance air/water heat pump in March 2023.
The front door faces east and is set off by a small front garden and two round maple trees. From the hallway behind the front door, turning right first takes you to the guest WC, with the dining room right next to it, straight ahead lies the cozy living room (spread over two levels), and to the left is the spacious kitchen. Adjacent to the kitchen, there is an outdoor terrace covered with glass. Here you have a sheltered outdoor seating area for dining or barbecuing in the fresh air—ideal for spring and autumn when you want to sit outside in a protected space, but the open terrace might still be too “cool.”
A focal point in the hallway is, besides the wooden staircase with its metal rods leading upward, the front of the stylish tiled stove with its door for stoking it. The house is located in a quiet area at the upper edge of Brüggen’s town center, on a dead-end street with a total of six houses and traffic limited to local residents. Within a five-minute walk you can reach the general practitioner center, the bus station, several grocery stores, and drugstores. There are two water circuits installed in the house—one for potable water and one for non-potable water from the rainwater cistern in the garden. For example, these circuits supply the toilet flushes. All water pipes are made of stainless steel rather than copper. A walk-in closet in the master bedroom and two bathrooms on the upper floor provide added personal comfort.
